WEEK 3
On an unexpectedly warm, sunny day, we had a fabulous turnout for this week's rehearsal. The session included more work on My Favourite Things, a revisit/ refresh on an old favourite, Jolene, and a sing through of What's Up?.
During warmup, there was also an 'unusual' demonstration from Elena showing the depth of our nasal passageways using a Q-tip (you had to be there!).
COFFEE NOTICES
All the 'Dates for the Diary' are at the end of this post but this week we shared more details on the upcoming Ralph Perring Court performance.
Saturday 2 November - Ralph Perring Court
Registration for the performance is now open. Click the button below to register.
Summary
We'll be returning to Ralph Perring Court, a retirement housing complex in Beckenham whose motto is 'Interesting people living life to the full'. The concert will start at around 7pm but we'll likely have a rehearsal/warm-up before this (timing/details TBC). We are also planning to do 2 sets (with a break in between) performing a mixture of group songs with the whole choir and some solo/ensemble performances. If you are interested in doing a solo/ensemble piece, please indicate this in the relevant section of the registration form or speak to one of the management team at rehearsal.
THE SONGS
My Favourite Things
We continued working on My Favourite Things from The Sound of Music. This week we looked at the structure of the song (i.e. which groups sing which parts and which sections are sung together) plus some of the harmony lines.
You can see a video of our sing through here:

An audio recording of our sing-through has been added to the Lyric and Audio Library.
Practice aids
Elena also shared 2 helpful YouTube tutorials which cover the different parts / harmonies which you might find useful:

Part 2
Jolene
We sang through Jolene and focused on the rhythm and delivery of the words in the different verses. A new recording of Jolene can be found here.
DATES FOR THE DIARY
