26 Sept Rehearsal Update

WEEK 4

In our warmup this week we combined movement and sound to get used to taking the strain off our throats when singing.

Warmup exercise 26 Sept rehearsal

We worked on some additional harmonies for My Favourite Things from The Sound of Music and revisited a song from our existing repertoire, Chiquitita by ABBA.

THE SONGS

My Favourite Things

Practice aids

Below are 2 helpful YouTube tutorials which cover the different parts / harmonies which you might find useful.

Hopefully this won't be too confusing but please note that, for these tutorials, the 'ah ah ah' section is covered in part 1 which is sung by the sopranos -  in our sessions this is sung in part 2 by the altos.

Part 1

Part 2

Chiquitita

After our sing through of Chiquitita, Elena encouraged us to think about the song *dynamics and how the music builds and therefore, the power of our voices needs to build along with it.

*Dynamics means how quietly or loudly a piece of music should be played and they are also an important way of conveying the mood of a song.
