Rehearsal
This week's joyful and upbeat rehearsal was all about women and girls! We started to learn Girls Just Want to Have Fun by Cyndi Lauper. There is a lovely interplay of lines and harmonies between the sops and altos as you can see in this video below:
We then revisited What Happens When A Woman which is a song we first started looking at last year. We are doing it this time without the body percussion - but still with some stomping and all sung acapella.
You can practice both of these songs by visiting our Lyric & Audio Library.
DATES FOR THE DIARY
SUNDAY 6 APRIL West Norwood Feast
We are booked to sing at West Norwood Feast a 'volunteer powered self-funded street food market festival'. As you can see from their website https://westnorwoodfeast.com, this is a community event with around 100 stalls set up across three hubs along the high street in West Norwood. We will be singing on the the Artisans stage near the leisure centre at 14.30. Please note this is a change to the previously noted time of 13.30 to make sure Elena can participate and conduct us at this event. More details to follow!
COTH Members Quick Pulse Survey
Instead of a COTH member profile, this week we want to hear from you!
Last year we asked for your feedback on all things COTH and you told us you wanted more input into what songs we are singing, more challenging harmonies and more vocal warmups. Since then we have done the following:
Set up a song suggestion box at the Christmas party.
Asked for more input into new songs at a recent social.
Set up a WhatsApp group to share and discuss music and song choices (please speak to Naomi if you would like to be added to this).
Introduced 2 new songs from the suggestion box to our rep: Shallow and Girls Just Want to Have Fun (many more to follow).
We'd like to hear more from you about our song choices and how you feel about them in the quick pulse survey below. It is an anonymous survey (unless you decide to leave your name) and should take only a few minutes to complete.
If you have any questions about our song choices or about the survey, please feel free to email us at sing@choironthehill.com.
